MOROCCO : RECONSTRUCTING THE 1.416 HOMES DESTROYED BY THE 2023 EARTHQUAKE

On 8 September 2023 at 23h11 in Morocco, a 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck the Marrakesh–Safi region. It affected 2.8 million people, of which, at least 2.960 where killed, 5.674 were injured and 1.416 homes were destroyed. 

Around 60,000 homes were damaged. Almost all the houses in the villages of the Atlas Mountains have been destroyed, or are too damaged to live in safely. 

Entire families have been living in tents since September 9.
